Plaiting, Buns and Curling

Plating & Buns

In this lesson we talked through plating and buns. I have got the simple skills of doing a normal plait & a fish tail plait but had always tried to do a french plait but mine always came out very messy!

Plaits

I started with the Fishtail first as I new how to do this.

I then went to do a French Plait. Again I did find this a bit harder so had to do a couple of attempts.

                  First attempt:                                                                         Second attempt:

I feel that after a bit of practice I did get more confidence in creating this plait.

Buns

We then moved onto the buns, this is something that i haven't done before without a pad between the hair so the way it turned out was actually really goo on my first attempt.

Step by Step.
  • Gather hair into a high ponytail.
  • Split the hair into four sections.
  • Get the first section and backcomb the under side at the bottom.
  • Wrap the hair round your fingers and move this to the centre on the head.
  • Pin in place with a bobby pin (preferably the same hair colour.)
  • Do this to all other sections.
  • Get a open bobby pin and merge the first two sides together.
  • Do this to the other open corners.
  • You now have a bun with no gaps and no padding!

Curling

When curling we used the small tongs and held them there for a couple of seconds, then removed it so it stayed in place. After the hair had cooled we then brushed it out.

It created a nice effect but don't think I will use this technique in my final design.
