The Snood / Caul
The snood looks like a hair net but with jewels on. Most of these hair pieces are crocheted out of a string, some do even have an elastic band to keep them on the head. These where most likely to be used just for convenience sake as they kept the hair in place, off the face.

French hood
The french hood was made up of a couple of items:
- Coif- This is made of linen, tied under the chin, it could have been pinned into the hair.
- Crepine - A gathered pleat covering the head made also from fine linen or sometimes silk. This is what can be seen at the back on the head.
- Paste - This is worn over both the Coif and Crepine, this was the coloured to contrast again the veil, and was very stiff to create the shape.
- Veil - This is what you can see at the back of the head it hung strait down and was mainly black.
- Billaments - This is the decorative boarder to can see round the top, this would sometimes have jewels and peals along the edge.

Plaits and braids where a very popular hair style of the time and brought in by the renaissance. The plait below has been twirled round into a bun shape, this is a very neat hair style and would have looked lovely with peals popped into it.

Another beautiful plait from the era was the crown plait it also kept the hair off the face and looked very neat but sometimes had such accessories as ribbon in it.
The accessories added where dependant of the wealth of the person as it would have been expensive at the time to have such luxuries as ribbon, pearls or any time of jewel.

Attifet
This head piece is a heart shaped with a point that comes over the top to the forehead. Below is an image of Mary Queen of Scots who worn them a lot. In the image below it looks like this was made out of a fine lace and was embellished with more fine lace framing the face.
I do like this headpiece, however I feel it makes the women look older, and is made for an older women. Basically I wouldn't wear it!

Wigs
Wigs where a big thing in the Elizabethan time, as the Queen made this a popular demand. They where to show their wealth and attention in court.
This image was taken from the film Elizabeth, this was the moment she came in in her new persona that would change the face of fashion of the time!
I think the wires look incredible but would not like to wear one as they where probably really itchy!
