Products used in Elizabethan era

Now as I have said before fair hair was a particular interest in the Elizabethan time, the women would really do anything to fit in with the fashion much like women do now days; the substances used to create the fair look would range from urine… (Yuck!) to cumin seeds, saffron and oil.

Elizabeth had very red hair and women also wanted this look too and started dyeing it red!

In those days young women would tend to wear their hair down and once married put it up, it was just to define who was married and who was eligible to be.
